Welcome
WELCOME,
Hi, I’m Greg
A Health, Safety, and Fire Consultant with over 17 years of experience in the facilities management and safety world.
I kicked off my career back in 2007 with Ethos Facilities Ltd (which was known as Commercial & Industrial Cleaning Services back then). I started out in hands-on roles like cleaning, driving, and warehousing, which gave me a proper grounding in how things work on the ground and what it’s like for the people doing the day-to-day jobs. It’s something that’s stuck with me ever since.
Over time, I worked my way up through different roles at Ethos, eventually becoming Area Manager, where I was responsible for 47 client sites across London and the South East. I managed a large team of over 150 people and made sure services like cleaning, maintenance, and security ran smoothly and safely.
A big part of that job was carrying out regular health and safety checks, risk assessments, and keeping a safety-first mindset front and centre for the teams, especially as a lot of them spoke English as a second language, so clear, simple communication was key.

In 2018, I took on a Project Manager role, looking after multiple refurbishment projects around London. I was juggling 10-15 live sites at a time, keeping an eye on site safety, managing contractors, and making sure everything got delivered on time, within budget, and most importantly, safely.
A year later, I stepped into the Health and Safety Manager role, overseeing the health and safety of staff and contractors across the business. This was right as the Covid-19 pandemic hit, so it meant adjusting to constantly changing guidance while doing everything we could to keep people safe on-site and behind the scenes. I led on audits, compliance, investigations, and worked closely with senior teams to keep everything on track.
In 2020, I made the move to Tetra Consulting Ltd, joining their Health, Safety and Fire team. Tetra’s an independent property risk consultancy working with clients across the UK. Since then, I’ve carried out all sorts of site-based work health and safety risk assessments, type 1-4 fire risk assessments, fire door and compartmentation surveys, and environmental audits.
I’ve built up a good working knowledge of legislation across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland and enjoy helping newer consultants find their feet in the industry.
I’ve picked up a fair few qualifications along the way too, including the NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma in Health and Safety, the NEBOSH National General Certificate, NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate, and an ABBE Level 3 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment. I’m a proud Certified Member of IOSH (CertIOSH) and a Tier 2 Technical Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (TIFSM).
At the heart of what I do is a simple belief: everyone deserves to go home safe at the end of the day. I’m a big fan of clear, honest advice and finding practical solutions that actually work in the real world, not just on paper.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me on the golf course, watching the rugby, or spending time with family and friends. I set up this blog to share a few stories from the job, pass on some advice, and connect with others in the health, safety, and fire world.
Cheers for stopping by. Feel free to drop me a message if you fancy a chat.
